    Development a New Intelligent Mobile Robot to Avoid Obstacle

    The project is a robot that automatically by passes barriers to reach a specific goal with an ultrasonic help that senses obstacles and measures the remaining transitions before the collision is meet. The robot changes its course with a couple of DC motors, Robot runs automatically without any interference by the Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) algorithm. The goal of this paper is to develop a path planning method that is capable of planning the mobile robot path from the starting position to the target position in different environments. However, the parameters of membership functions and PID controller parameters have optimized by using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. In addition to that, the proposed method with two Schemes of motion controllers are test with varying static and dynamic environments with and without load. The artificial potential field algorithm is introduce for path planning of mobile robot. However, the potential field algorithm is effective in avoiding unknown obstacles, but it contains minimal local problems, then a modified field algorithm is introduce to overcome some of the local minimum problems in the environment. Therefore, it is enhancing the performance of potential field algorithm and to produce a more efficient path planning method, that to allow mobile robot to navigate in dynamic and complex environments. As well as, simulation of mobile robot is design to test and implement the proposed method and control schemes using MATLAB and the software is develops by using C++ language and Arduino IDE.     Motor Capabilities of Lower Limb Amputated Patients and Its Relation to Body Image and Depression

    Background: Lower limb amputation is a great event in the life of individual’s which having an counteractive effect on overall physical, psychological and social functioning of an individual so the study aim is to measure relation of motor capabilities of lower limb amputated patients on body image and depression level. Methods: Design: The descriptive correctional research design was utilized to achieve the aim of the study. Sample: A convenient sample of sixty four participant consisted of male and female adult amputee patients. Setting: This study was conducted in Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Department at Minia University Hospital. Tools of data collection: Three scales and one tool were utilized; Bio socio-demographic characteristic and structured interview, Locomotor Capabilities Index, Amputee Body Image Scale and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) scale. Results: 73.5% of the amputated patients have low locomotor capabilities while 93.7% of the study sample has a low body image and 31.2% of the study sample suffers from moderate depression after 6 month from amputation and high positive significant correlation between locomotor capabilities and body image, while that there was a high negative significant correlation between locomotor capabilities and depression level among the imputed patients. Conclusions: The recent amputee patients that are have lower limb prosthesis suffer from low locomotor capabilities and theses have negative impact on their body image and depression level. Recommendation: A well planned structured rehabilitation program should be done to the specific needs of people with limb amputation in order to be able to find out its impact on their functional abilities, body image and depression level.     Layer by Layer Silver Acetate based Coating on Glass and Cement Substrates to Tailor Reflectance and Conductance

    Tailoring reflectance and conductance was achieved through layer by layer assembly of a silver acetate based multilayer coating. The coating was applied over glass and cement substrates by sol-gel spin coating and by brush painting, respectively. The structural, optical and electrical characteristics and the composition of the coating were studied. The diffraction peaks for all films revealed that the face-centered cubic lattice of the silver crystal structure and the films with more layers had a higher degree of crystallinity. The optical characteristics showed that having more layers leads to decreasing transmittance and increasing reflectance. The I-V characteristics of all samples showed typical ohmic contacts in a voltage range of -1 to 1 V. The conductance increased drastically as the coating developed into multiple layers. The eight-layer coated glass and cement based substrates had very low surface resistance, at 4 Ω and 2 Ω at 1 V, respectively. The study also revealed that the resistance behavior of a multilayered film generally is thermally stable for annealing up to 400 °C. The coating resistance was significantly increased by further increasing the post-annealing beyond 500 °C. The studied multilayered coating can be used to tailor the reflectance and conductance of dielectric substrate surfaces for various optoelectronics and sensor device applications

    Antimalarial Activity of Certain Sudanese Medicinal Plants Used in Folk –Medicine

    Ten indigenous plants of common use in Sudanese folk-medicine, vitro for antimalarial activity against Plasmoclium were examined in falciparum, the major human malaria parasite. All plant samples displayed various antimalarial activity. Three plant extracts caused 100% inhibition of the parasite growth at a concentration ≤ 500 g/ml. The most active extracts that produced 100% inhibition of the parasite growth at a concentration ≤ 50 g/ml were obtained from the seeds of Nigella sativa and the whole plant of Aristolochia bracteolata. These two plants were phytochemically screened for their active constituents and both showed the presence of sterols, alkaloids and tannins

    Nonlinear analysis of RHA concrete beam using ANSYS

    So rice husk can be used as supplemental cement material due to its pozzolanic effect. Rice husk as agricultural waste if used properly not only reduces environmental problems but also reduces carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere by reducing cement production. Current experimental work using ash of rice husk (RHA) being material of supplementation has shown good enhancement in the properties of the RC beams. This paper presents results obtained from the analytical model of the RHA concrete beams. The study included developing an analytical model using finite element method ANSYS R15.0 software. For validation the results, the analytical model was compared with the experimental work using similar properties. By using four point loading flexural test, ten simply supported RC beams were tested containing various rice husk ash percentages. Results showed that all RHA concrete beams of the analytical model failed by flexural similarly to the experimental work. The average of FEM to experimental ratio (for the ten models) for ultimate load was 91.173%, while for maximum deflection was 93.055 %. This indicates that the agreement between finite element results and experimental results are excellent. Also, the crack pattern, failure mode and the load-deflection curve from the analytical model related to the experimental works show good agreement

    S100A4 overexpression proves to be independent marker for breast cancer progression

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Breast cancer is the most common cancer and cause of deaths in women around the world. Oncogene amplification usually occurs late in tumor progression and correlates well with aggressiveness of tumor. In fact the function of the S100A4 protein and its role in metastasis is unclear at present. The purpose of the study was to determine the expression of S100A4 protein in the invasion status and metastatic potential of breast cancer by using tissue microarray and to determine its role in breast cancer based on the expression of S100A4 gene product.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>S100A4 protein expression was examined by immunohistochemistry (IHC) using commercially available tissue microarray containing malignant and normal breast tissue cores from 216 patients.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>S100A4 was absent in normal breast tissues while positive in 45.1% of infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC) node negative and 48.8% of infiltrating lobular carcinoma node negative. In paired samples, S100A4 protein was expressed in 13.5% of IDC node positive cases and 35.1% of matched lymph node metastasis.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>S100A4 protein expression appears widely expressed in early and advanced breast cancer stages compared with normal breast. Our study suggests S100A4 may play a role in breast cancer progression and may prove to be an independent marker of breast cancer which appears to be down regulated in more advanced stages of breast cancer.</p

    Turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn.) as a phytogenic growth promoter alternative for antibiotic and comparable to mannan oligosaccharides for broiler chicks

    This work aimed at investigating the potential as a growth enhancer of different dietary concentrations of turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn.) as an alternative to oxytetracyline and antibiotics and as comparable to mannan oligosaccharide for broiler chicks. A total of 252 Hubbard broiler chicks at one day of age were distributed randomly in a straight run experimental design among six treatments, each replicated seven times, with six unsexed chicks per replicate. The basal diet was administered without supplements (control group) or supplemented with turmeric at 0.5, 1, and 2 g/kg diet, or with mannan oligosacride (MOS) at 1 g/kg feed or with oxytetracycline (OTC) at 50 mg/kg feed. Growth performance, carcass characteristics, meat quality traits, blood biochemical constituents, antioxidant status and red blood cell (RBCs) were investigated. Turmeric supplementation at 1 g/kg feed significantly improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) and European production index compared to the control group and MOS groups. The results indicated that turmeric can be used at 1 kg/t feed as a phytogenic feed additive as an alternative to OTC or MOS without negative effects on the productive and economic traits of broilers.     Modulatory effects of perindopril on cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in mice: Implication of inflammatory cytokines and caspase-3 mediated apoptosis

    Cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity limits its anticancer effectiveness, thus this study’s aim was to assess the potential modulatory effect of perindopril on cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity and to elucidate the possible underlying mechanisms. Renal dysfunction was induced in mice by a single injection of cisplatin (10 mg kg–1, i.p.) and perindopril was administered orally (2 mg kg–1, once daily) for 5 days. Perindopril remarkably ameliorated cisplatin-induced perturbations in renal histology, renal levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-6 and interleukin-10, apoptosis-regulating protein expressions (Bax and Bcl2), and partially normalized Bax to Bcl2 ratio and active caspase 3 protein expression. Conversely, perindopril had no significant effect on cisplatin-induced elevations in serum creatinine and urea, microalbuminuria, kidney to body weight ratio, lipid peroxidation marker, superoxide dismutase and catalase activities and reduced glutathione content. In conclusion, perindopril may be safely used with cisplatin in mice since it ameliorated cisplatin-induced histopathological changes, inflammation and apoptosis without affecting renal biomarkers or oxidative stress
